CARTER LOVES: music, photography, conflict, passion, sex, drinking, running, black and white movies, musicians, bad boys, sex hair, chocolate, sleep, forgetting, architecture, learning, curiosity, hot showers, hot tub sex, clear skies, snowy weather, rainy weather, australia, accents.
CARTER HATES: vegetables, lack of sleep, bad sex, humidity, black ice, car accidents, no passion, not belonging, technical stuff, viruses, being sick, trash, her parents.
PERSONALITY:
• closed off -- carter is naturally a very closed person. she doesnt like letting people know what's made her the way she is, and she definitely isnt going to let anyone know that she's depressed. it would ruin everything, and she doesnt want the pity. besides, she's said it so many times between when she was at rehab and to her therapist, she's grown tired of sharing the story, and she's not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
• goofy -- Carter is, and always will be, considered a goofy person. She's probably one of the most easy people to get along with, and that's probably because she connect with the inner five-year old in all people. she cracks stupid jokes and can be awfully immature, but at the same time, she can swing from goofy to serious in a matter of seconds. all depends on the subject matter for this girl. being goofy is a bit of a release for her, because it's easy to get to and easy to maintain, and she doesnt have to worry about keeping up charades because it is part of her essential nature.
• sarcastic -- Sarcasm is Carter's second language. If she's not being serious, then she's either being a dumbass or being sarcastic. Her humor has always been of the dry variety, with dead-pan jokes at the expense of herself and others. She's mean, sometimes, with her jokes, but you can always tell when she's irritated, because she'll only speak to you in sarcastic tones and crack jokes that are insulting to the person she's annoyed with. people have always enjoyed her sarcasm, though, and while it has won her several friends, it has also warranted her several enemies, and that's not something she's all too fond of, honestly.
• blunt -- carter is well known for saying things exactly like it is, and she's not one for having a 'censor'. she says whatever she's thinking and isn't really afraid of the consequences. it earns her a lot of enemies, but quite frankly, she doesn't care about that, either.
• loyal -- an extremely important aspect of carter's personality is her loyalty. If you're her friend, she will got to the edge's of the earth for you, and will be loyal and true. But if you ever lie to her, expect her to be the first to cut you down: not behind your back, but to your face. She hates people who break her trust, and trust me, once it's gone, it doesnt come back, not easily. Her loyalty is something that is definitely to be earned, and once lost, it's not easily earned back.
• bitchy -- carter is a class 'a' bitch. if she sees you doing something stupid, she'll be a bitch and tell you that you're being stupid and probably proceed on with a couple more insults. she loves calling people out on their shit, and her nature just leads to her being more bitchy than she might normally be. people tell her she's a bitch, and she just accepts it - she knows, and you know what? she doesn't care.
• confrontational -- carter love love loves to fight. she loves getting her blood pumping and arguing something into the ground. the girl loves speaking her mind and she doesnt care if other people get upset about it. she's born to argue, and she does it every day. she thrives around people who are ready to argue back with her. but sometimes, however, she does get a little tired of always fighting. sometimes she'd just like to rest.
• adventurous -- carter is a bit of an adventurer. she loves doing crazy things at crazy times, anything for an adrenaline rush. the idea of things that are forbidden drive her crazy, so it wouldn't surpise you to find she does have strikes on her permanent record already for trespassing on private property and things of the like.
• slutty -- carter is a hoe. she thrives on the physical, and physical touch to her is the most amazing thing imaginable. she loves the bad boy type, and has probably screwed most of the boys in her school that have a permanent record, tattoos, or piercings. she likes them rough and ready to rumble - they're the only type that can keep up with her.
• insecure -- though carter would never, ever admit it... she's very insecure. she views herself as broken goods, that if even the right guy came along, they would never be able to love her. it something she's really afraid of, and its why she lashes out, because she doesnt want to be broken any further by people who try and get close to her.
SECRETS: she takes anti-depressants, but she doesn't rely on them, and she's an insomniac.
FEARS: never reconnecting with her brother, death, and never feeling loved despite the fact she views herself as positively broken.
GOALS: to become a famous photographer, to graduate college with honors, and to build a life of her own

BEST MEMORY: "my best memory... is definitely this one time, when my family went to new zealand. my parents went to the spa for the day, and my brother and i decided that we were going to try (against my parents wishes) to bungee jump. it had been my brother's idea, but i remember him trying to back out of it last second, but i made him do it. i remember watching him fall, feeling the fear grip in my stomach and clench painfully as they let him drop into the water. watched as his head bobbed to the surface, and i faintly remember seeing a wave, and maybe, just maybe the hint of a smile. i knew that if i didn't jump, he'd give me hell. and so i took the plunge. it was the best feeling i've ever experienced. free falling, your head dipping under the water for a fraction of a second before you were suddenly thrown upward again, laughter bubbling from your throat before you could stop it. that was the time i felt the most free. i remember being so happy and elated i thought i could burst. i want that feeling back, more than anything."
WORST MEMORY: "and why would i tell you? jesus. shove off."
OVERALL HISTORY: Carter Marie Sanders was born screaming on a cold night in Australia, January 1st, 12:01 AM. Earlier, at 11:59 PM, December 31st, her twin brother, Andy McKnight Sanders, was brought into the world, much more docile and quiet. It was clear, growing up, that Carter was going to be the fireball of the family, and Andy the studious, smart one. At the age of 7, both were cast in a school play, with Carter as the evil witch, and Andy as the magical prince, the knight in shining armor… That’s how it always was with them. They were a perfect balance, really, Andy balancing out Carter's personality, and vice versa, fairly well. They were very, very close. Their relationship was tender and open, and Carter didn’t think she’d ever had a better best friend. They did nearly everything with each other, and the other’s opinion was what mattered, first, even before the parent’s opinion. That comes to another thing: the parents. John and Joanie Sanders were very protective of their children, and if they had to say, neither child’s personality really matched theirs. It was definitely the grandparents, Carter after Grandma Julie on Joanie’s side, and Andy after his father’s Grandma. Both parent’s were amazed that the children were spitting images of their parents, both in personality and in physical features.
Through boyfriends and girlfriends, through heartbreak and deceit, through best friends and losers, Carter and Andy stuck together. They rarely ever got into fights, and were fiercely protective of the brother. Normally, instead of the John giving boys the talk, well, Andy gave it instead. It was just the way things worked.
Their life was going well, indeed… well, until their parents decided to up and move them, to the United States. Both Carter and Andy were pissed, and decided, with Andy's newly acquired license, to go out and party. They left, without a word to their parents, and went to a friends house to party. There, they met a friend of both of them, and they got down and dirty. By two o’clock in the morning, they were wasted, and the friend offered to drive the two home, having stayed sober, and Carter denied the offer, managing to say in a fairly sober voice, “I think we can manage,” and with that, they left, Andy leaning on his sister, goody-two-shoes façade finished.
They were on the road for fifteen minutes before Andy realized that he was two drunk to drive. They pulled over, and in a fit of laughter, opened the doors and started stumbling around outside, Andy falling over into the road, holding his stomach as he laughed and laughed, and it started to rain. Of course, that set them off even more, and soon Carter was leaning against the car, laughing as Andy t tried to get up. However, it was beginning to rain harder and harder, you know, one of those storms that only Washington could have. The water was cold as it rained down on Carter's face, and it slowly made her mind clear as she stopped laughing. She opened the door to the driver's side, and yelled at her brother to get up as she slipped into the seat. She bent down to collect the keys that had dropped on the floor of the car. That's when she heard the screeching, the horrible sound of tires slipping on asphalt. Carter's head snapped up, just in time to see the careening car, brakes locked, clipping her brother's side as he drunkenly tried to scramble out of the way.
Andy Sanders was in the ICU for a week before they performed the first surgery on his back. Carter had barely left the hospital, except maybe to change and take a shower. She'd barely slept the entire week, and somehow she managed to keep her eyes open through the long, long ten hour surgery that was supposed to repair her brothers back. The surgery worked, somewhat, restoring movement of his upper body, but he still couldn't move his legs. The guilt overtook her at that time, and she dropped out of high school while her brother diligently continued his studies in the hospital and in his house. Of course. He'd always been a brain. Carter, however, threw herself into partying, clubbing, and doing drugs. For a while, she'd even started cutting... but then he parents found out and shipped her away to some facility in Brisbane. They stopped her horrible habits... for the most part, while trying to get her back on track in her studies. It was there she passed the sophomore grade, and moved on to being a junior.
Finally, her parents decided to bring her back to Chicago. They had already moved to the States, and it was a harsh change for her, even though she'd been there longer than they had. Her brother had graduated high school while she had struggled to pass the 1oth grade, and that summer was a time where she had mended relationships with old friends, her father, and her brother. Her mother, however, still blamed her for everything, and Carter really could blame her: she blamed herself, too. But she so wished that her mother could forgive her. In that house, she grew back into who she used to be before the accident: rebellious, opionated Carter that loved to party on the weekends with her crew. It was the beginning of her junior year when her parents decided that they were going to send her to boarding school in Paris. Carter was a little shell-shocked. Would they keep punishing her for her brother's accident until she was dead? But nevertheless, against Carter's wishes, she was shipped off to Paris to finish out her schooling.
When she turned eighteen the middle of her junior year, Carter had already decided she was going to back to Chicago to finish high school. That was where she grew up, where she belonged, and it was always going to be that way. Of course, they accepted her, and now she's going on her senior year there, nineteen, young, wealthy, and extremely intelligent. she's hooked up with the friends that she had left so long ago, and she's happy where she is, for now. carter's raising some hell, being the lovable bitch she is, and making sure she leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets.
